Residents may be asked to remove their cars from streets or be temporarily unable to use their driveways to facilitate the work, which will take place generally between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Access to properties within work zones will be maintained at all times. “Road Work Ahead” signs will be placed in advance of work zones, and temporary single-lane closures are to be expected. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution when approaching work zones for the safety of the crews performing the work.

The contractor anticipates working during the week of May 7, then resuming on May 21 and working until completion.

The annual brick street repair program is an important component of the City of Salina’s annual street repair program. Over time, water seeps into brick pavement and either removes or expands the dirt beneath the pavement, causing the pavement to sink or heave.  The repairs include stabilizing the subgrade, placing a concrete base, re-laying the brick surface, and filling the cracks with sand.

The $100,000 project is part of the City of Salina's $4.7 million 2018 maintenance capital improvement program.
